Morland STRENGTH is proud to announce it’s new relationship with the Original STRENGTH Institute (OSI) to help educate more clients and athletes move better, perform better, and live life better!

Trainers sometimes ask one another:  “What new training exercises are you doing?”  The way I have answered that question in the last few years is by telling others about the Original STRENGTH system developed by Original Strength and OS Institute Co-Founder, Tim Anderson and his team.

Located in Downtown Fuquay-Varina, NC, OSI’s educational approach is based on simplifying the typical fitness experience with movements that are reflexive for people and come naturally.  The whole goal is to help people live their lives better and be able to do whatever it is they want.   They work hand in hand with Original Strength Systems which extends around the world with movement education workshops that focus on teaching people to press reset using 5 developmental patterns that most of us did as infants/children.  This system has provided a fresh training perspective of teaching and coaching adolescent students and athletes at Cardinal Gibbons High School.

I met Coach Anderson during a Kettle Bell workshop at NC State many years ago training my wrestlers.  Over the last 10 years we have shared ideas and unpacked our coaching methodologies together.  Coach Anderson visited our high school to instruct our staff on the value of leopard crawling (see video) and movements with the kettle bells (see video) that continue to make a significant impact on our Gibbons STRENGTH and conditioning program.  We are thankful to Coach Anderson for his ideas that helped lead to the tumbling circuit and crawling progressions we implemented with guys like Jack Shelton (see video), who were part of a team that just won their 3rd boys Lacrosse State Championship.  At the beginning of off-season programs, we like to begin with basic crawling and movement techniques.

Not long ago 10 members of Gibbons STRENGTH attended the Wake Forest High School S & C Clinic. Coach Anderson trained five of our athletes and showed them how difficult it is to crawl correctly.  A few of our top athletes from football shared with the group on the way home “this was one of the toughest workouts they had ever done!”

If you ask Tim Anderson about the Original STRENGTH system he will humbly say: it has been a gift from God to him and his team over the years.  He began publishing literature a few years ago in 2013 with his business partner Geoff Neupert, called “Original Strength (Regaining the Body You Were Meant to Have),” and then, “Original Strength Performance: Unlocking the Superhero Inside,” followed by, “The Original Strength Restoration: Returning to the Original You.” (Resources link here:)  His personal fitness is among the best in the field as featured in this recent video doing a Turkish get-up with 135 lbs that you can find here:

Tim is passionate and skilled in sharing his knowledge and understanding of the body with others in a way that is simple and easy for anyone to understand.

We are pleased to partner with Original STRENGTH Institute this year and looking forward to many opportunities to share the difference OSI has made in future speaking and advising opportunities.

If you should have specific questions about OSI, please e-mail me or post a comment below.  I recommend you invest some time on their website, sign up for their e-mail updates, subscribe to the blog, and look to attend a workshop in the future.
